The Trustees, Deacon Board, Deaconess Board,
Associate Ministers, and congregation of St.
James Missionary Baptist Church are humble
and grateful to God to introduce our new
Pastor, the Reverend Jerome Lee, Jr.
Rev. Lee was the pastor of Shiloh Baptist
Church in Painter, VA for the past 12 years.
Under his leadership new ministries were
instituted including organizing the first
Women’s Conference and Banquet, the news-
letter ministry, the Couples and Singles
Ministries, a summer enrichment lunch
program and a food bank, quarterly leader-
ship workshops and the Discipleship Ministry
to name a few. Rev. Lee also served as the site
coordinator and facilitator for Young Voices
for Better Choices. This was a grant funded
teen pregnancy prevention program. Through
these ministries and programs the church
membership grew.
His ministry has taken him to West Africa,
South Africa, Guyana, South America and
Jamaica, West Indies where he preached and
performed mission work. Rev. Lee served as
Second Vice-Moderator for the Eastern Shore
of Virginia-Maryland Baptist Association and
its Ministries consisting of 28 churches.
In 2006, Rev. Lee was appointed the Assoc-
iation’s Director of Christian Education,
a position he held until he relocated to
Greensboro. He also facilitated two 5-day
workshops for the Baptist General
Convention of Virginia - “How to Change Your
Church without Killing It,” and “Leadership
Development in Rural Congregations.”
In service to the community,Rev. Lee has been
on the Accomack County School Health Advisory
Board and served as a coordinator/instructor
for the Maryland Institute of Education which
helped adults earn their high school diploma.
Rev. Lee volunteered as a Chaplin Assistant
for Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA.
Prior to entering the ministry, Rev.Lee worked
at the Hampton Public Works department for
14 years.
Rev. Lee received his Master of Divinity from
the Samuel D. Proctor School of Theology at
Virginia Union University in 2005. Currently,
he is pursuing a doctorate of ministry degree
there. He was licensed in February, 1996 and
ordained in August, 1999. Graduating from
Hampton High School in Hampton, VA, Lee
earned a certificate and a diploma in
Christian Ministry from the James P. Boyce
College of the Bible of The Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary.
Rev. Lee is married to the former Cynthia J.
Adkins of Cheriton, VA. He is the son of
Jerome and Sandra Lee, Sr. and has one brother,
Jeffrey J. Lee. In his spare time Rev. Lee likes
to read. He also enjoys playing golf, fishing
and keeping up with the latest technology.
